He holds the retrospective Fiaminghi Décadas 50/60/70 (MAM-SP) and takes part in the group show Arte Brasil-Itália (Masp).
1981
He participates in the group show Quatro Artistas Contemporâneos, Hermelindo Fiaminghi, Lothar Charoux, M. Pelá e Tomie Ohtake, Pinturas, at Lacio Galerie de Arte (SP).
In 1981 and 1982, he stops painting and starts spending time at his country house in Eldorado (SP).
1984
He participates in the show Tradição e Ruptura: Sintése de Arte e Cultura Brasileras (Fundação Bienal de Paulo) and the exhibition Geraldo de Barros e Hermelindo Fiaminghi, at Galeria de Arte da Unicamp.
1986
In a solo show, at the Galeria de Arte São Paulo, he shows Desretratos e Despaisagens from the Corluz series.
He takes part in various group shows: Sete Décadas da Presença Italiana na Arte Brasileira and the Mostra Christian Dior de Arte Contemporânea, both at the Paço Imperial (RJ); Mostra da Coleção do Museu de Arte de São Paulo (Masp); the exhibition Volpi Permanência e Matriz: 7 Artistas de São Paulo, at Galeria Montesanti Roesler (SP); and Panorama da Arte Atual Brasileira – Pintura, at MAM-SP.
1987
He participates in the group shows A Trama do Gosto: Um Outro olhar sobre o Cotidiano (Fundação Bienal de Sao Paulo); I Abstração Geométrica: Concretismo e Neoconcretismo, held at Funarte (RJ), at Centro de Artes (RJ) and at the Museu de Arte Brasileira Faap (MAB), in São Paulo; Paulistas em Brasília, at the Museu de Arte de Brasília (MAB); and the international show 13th Art Exhibition, Embraer (Canada).
Goes back to using oil paint, sometime together with tempera.
1988
He holds the solo show Hermelindo Fiaminghi: Pintura, at Galleria Montensanti Roesler (SP and RJ); another at Galeria do Sol, in São José dos Campos (SP); and takes part in the group show Artistas Italianos e Descendentes no Brasil, at Banco Sudameris (SP).
